Why it matters: SNA's new School Nutrition Trends Report finds critical economic and regulatory challenges threaten the sustainability of school meal programs. 

To ensure these programs remain viable to benefit students long-term, SNA’s 2024 Position Paper includes three crucial asks:

• To combat financial threats, Congress must increase reimbursements by 40 cents per lunch and 15 cents per breakfast.

• To keep students eating healthy school meals, maintain current, successful school nutrition standards, rather than implementing additional rules.

• To support student success, offer healthy meals for all students at no charge.
