New Approaches to School Breakfast
Two regional conferences for your time and travel convenience!

Learning Objective:
Participants will learn about new approaches to starting a School Breakfast program and strategies to increasing participation.

School districts across Wisconsin have discovered that taking a fresh look at how they are delivering school breakfast can significantly increase breakfast participation. Join the Wisconsin Dairy Council as they share the techniques being used to reach every child with a nutritious school breakfast every school day. Past participants are welcome. If you have attended a previous workshop, come prepared to share your experience with other school districts.

Breakout #1: Getting Stakeholders to Say YES!

Panel discussion by key players, who will share their insight on the importance of school breakfast and how to gain support for the program.

Breakout #2: Let's Talk Reimbursement!
Helene Pesche, WI-DPI Nutrition Program Consultant
Review federal and state reimbursements, including how to determine severe need. Participants will also learn ways to convert the Wisconsin School Day Milk Program (WSDMP) milk break into breakfast in the classroom. In addition, Helene will examine factors affecting breakfast participation at the Elementary, Middle and High School levels. Session will end with each table hosting an open discussion of how to increase breakfast participation.
