SNA-Wisconsin Celebrates “Golden” Anniversary At 50th Convention in La Crosse Wisconsin

SNA-Wisconsin celebrated its 50th year with over 400 school food service professionals, 90 exhibits and 23 retirees at its June 24-27, 2007 State Conference in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.  The 23 retirees and 12 Past Presidents attending were honored for their years of service. 

Special activities to commemorate the 50th anniversary included a Nostalgia Room, photo opportunity with a 1958 car in the exhibit area, other 50th themed exhibits by the vendors, and special signs and decorations.

The opening general session featured a dynamic presentation by nationally know speaker Amanda Gore, The Human Connection Expert.  Amanda’s high-energy presentation “Live Out Loud!” stressed the importance of feeling good about yourself.  She discussed how to celebrate, motivate and encourage yourself, acknowledge and recognize others, balance work and life in new ways, laugh more and rediscover joy.

Due to the generousity of many industry supporters and members, there were a tremendous number of baskets for the Vendor Party live auction on Monday, June 25th.  The auction raised close to $3,000 for the installation reception for incoming SNA National President, Katie Wilson from LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

The Conference closing session featured a return by Fred Schafer, the Fit Food Dude.  Fred challenged attendees to get active and stress the importance of even small changes in diet and exercise to lead a healthier life.
