2010-11 Annual State Conference

Our 54th Annual State Conference of the SNA-WI “Making it Fit” was a great success. There were approximately 280 people in attendance. The Conference opened on Monday June 20th, at 10:00 am with opening remarks, candidate remarks and a buffet lunch. We again held our live elections and heard from all our candidates. This gave our members an opportunity to put a name with a face and make the best decision for this outstanding organization. Members had the opportunity to vote until 1:00 pm the next day. The awards ceremony took place at 11:30 am with Dianne Nass, SNS doing another great job. Congratulations to all the winners. Our first keynote speaker, Jeff Joiner, spoke from 12:30 to 1:30 pm. His topic was “They’re Not Just Kids, They’re Customers”. We went right into breakouts until 5:15 pm. Monday night was a free evening to see the sites of the beautiful city of Green Bay and spend some quality time with friends.
Tuesday June 21st started with Chapter Sharing Rally, then at 9:00 am we heard our next keynote speaker, Cathy Leman, MA, RD, LD. Her topic was “Make the Food and Mood Connection.” Breakout sessions followed. They were very interesting and covered a lot of the hot topics happening now in child nutrition. The evaluations for these sessions were very good and everyone had a large selection to choose from. After breakouts we got back together for a very nice dinner and installation ceremony. We were honored to have Nancy Rice, SNS, RD, SNA president, do the installation ceremony. The Vendor Party followed at the Ashwaubenon Lanes. What a fun night. There was bowling, Chapter tables, dancing with music by a D.J., and raffle prizes.
Wednesday morning started with a Wellness Walk down by the river. At 9:15 am we had the Products on Parade for the Gold Sponsors. The Industry Show went from 9:45 am to 1:30 pm. We all saw many new and different products and had a great time. We concluded the Conference with vendor prize drawings and the annual drawing of the winner of a free registration to next year conference. Cheryl Peil introduced us to the Conference for next year at the Kalahari in the Dells.
I have to take a moment to thank all the vendors who in some way helped with this fantastic conference. It could have been to sponsor food, a speaker, shirts, prize donations and so on. There are too many to mention and I do not want to take the chance to miss someone. So I just want to say THANK YOU, you know who you are.
I also have to give a Huge Thank You to everyone who helped in some way make this a wonderful Conference. We could not do it without all the vendors, volunteers, Steering Committee and our executive office’s help.
Let’s do it again in the Dells!!!!!!!!!!
